The presentation of a diversity and inclusion report forces a commitment to society and to fulfill what is promised, to be an example for companies because diversity enriches and favors the direction of corporations, Juan Pablo Velásquez, vice president of Human Resources in Latin America for 3M.
Within the framework of the presentation of the company's First Global Report on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Velásquez assured that in 2015, 32.6% of leadership positions were held by diverse people.
Diversity, he said, not only lies in skin color and sexual preferences, it is also about hiring people from “public and private universities who have different opinions,” he considered.
By 2020, the Ecuador Mobile Number List amount of diverse talent increased 10.7% and it is for this reason that it is expected that in 2025, 65.2% of its employees in leadership positions will belong to this diversity. This is one of 3M's commitments and Velásquez's position is emphasized: "by making it public, there is more transparency."
In addition to growing diverse talent, 3M has a $50 million investment plan for diversity organizations. These institutions will be chosen and studied by their employees who belong to it, since it is considered that they are the right ones to use said action.
By the time the report was published, it was estimated that 90% of its employees had salary equity and they wanted it to be for everyone, however, by 2021, 100% of it has already been achieved at 3M, assured Velásquez. And, according to the United Nations, women continue to earn 23% less than men.
Velásquez commented that it is not only about working on social inclusion and giving yourself the title of an inclusive company, but also about letting your workers know the importance of respect, because it is not just about "tolerating", it is about recognizing that we are all equal, promoting inclusion, in addition to celebrating different points of view, which is part of its organizational culture.
Companies are subject to the law, that is the minimum expected of any company, however, the advantage of companies is that they can set higher standards and openings have been evolving, exemplifying casual Friday and for them all days is “dress for your day.”
Diversity is diverse talent, inclusion is being inside the company and making them feel comfortable. Impacting Latin America would be something transcendental, because as he commented, Brazil is a country where 60% of its population is black and 80% of the leaders have light skin.
Me is going to be a strong reference in diversity and inclusion and will set the 2030 agenda. We will also be an example for companies and they can compare themselves to move forward, an example of companies with diverse people in leadership positions. "We will continue to increase our positioning and we will have a committed team that feels comfortable working in the midst of diversity.
